  • Corolla Nature Trail: Currituck Banks Boardwalk

Do you need a short break from the beach during your week in the Outer Banks?  Perhaps you’ve had a bit too much sun, the kids are cranky or it is cloudy outside?  If so, the Currituck Banks Boardwalk is a perfect escape for anyone in the family. To find the boardwalk, drive north on Ocean Trail (NC 12).  Pass Whalehead Club and the Currituck Lighthouse.  When you see a curve in the road you have reached the Currituck Banks Boardwalk.  Looking directly ahead at the curve you will see the sand parking lot.  If you find yourself at the end of the road where people begin driving on the beach, simply turn around and look for the sandy parking lot on your right...

  • A Must See Outer Banks Shipwreck in Corolla

The Outer Banks is known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic, with shipwrecks scattered along both the beaches and on the ocean’s floor.  Our very own Corolla has a shipwreck you can visit that is just behind Food Lion.  If you are in the Northern Outer Banks, this is a shipwreck you can’t miss seeing. You can visit this shipwreck by driving North on Ocean Trail towards Timbuck II.  As you reach the Tomato Patch Restaurant and Food Lion, turn right on Albacore Street. There is no parking on Albacore or other streets, so if you don’t have a house nearby you will need to park at Food Lion and walk.  Go down Albacore and go directly over the walkway to the...
