    Can You Eat OBX Puffer Fish? In one word, yes!  The blowfish you see caught in OBX is most commonly the Northern Puffer Fish.  The Northern Puffer has a smooth appearance, yet the skin is similar to sandpaper.  They are lightly spotted, but when blown up have beautiful golden yellow tiger-like stripes.
