    In Corolla they do! Although I've never seen them on the beach myself, I've found their footprints often on morning walks.  It's a beautiful sight as the sun rises over the ocean....

  • Beautiful Outer Banks Wildlife Seen in June

    I believe the wildlife in the Outer Banks came together and decided to put on a show this weekend. Our first animal sighting behind the house was the best of all.  Our doe had twin babies who are barely two feet tall and are simply covered in spots.  Mama deer walked with caution along the sandy brush while her babies pranced around behind her.  We followed their progress as they went behind bushes and emerged somewhere on the other side. Later that evening we saw the young buck that has been hiding for more than a year. We knew one was out there, but had not seen him until this weekend.   • The Deer of the Outer Banks

    The Outer Banks still calls itself home to wild North Carolina deer.  It is common for Outer Banks vacationers to spot deer roaming behind beach houses or near the beach dunes. Deer are usually spotted in the early morning hours or at twilight, enjoying fresh beach grasses or ripe wild persimmons.   And if you are lucky, you may just see a baby deer or two happily trotting behind a proud but wary mother.
