Today I would like to thank the amazing Currituck County EMS team for missing their dinners and Friday night plans simply to wrap up my son’s ankle and get him in the car for me.
Not two minutes after we arrived Friday night, my son jumped some stairs and landed wrong on his ankle. He heard a loud pop and went down.
At the time, I couldn’t get him off the ground. “Do I call 911? Or do I try to get him in the car.” {listening to my son groan on the ground…} “Do I call 911? Or do I…” {groannnnn} “I guess I call 911.”
They wrapped my son’s ankle and got him settled in to my van for a ride down to the Emergency Room at mile post 14. We left at 2 a.m. with an ankle that had been dislocated, a torn ligament, two crutches and a bag of pain medication.
Thank you, Currituck County EMS. My son’s ankle was small potatoes compared to many of the calls you get, yet you treated him as if he was just as important as a true emergency!
