This weekend we thought we finally had a chance to swim. Between the cold water and off shore wind, swimming has been almost rare during our Outer Banks summer. This morning brought rough water and choppy waves, however this afternoon things seemed to be calm enough for an ocean swim.
This Sunday may be the beginning of Shark Week on TV, however on our beaches it is in reality (queue the Jaws theme song) JELLYFISH WEEK.
The water was beautiful, the wind calmer but our swim was brief for fear of stings. My diehard body boarder stayed in for a few hours, but came out with minor sting marks to prove it.
Just be careful where you step because the beach is littered with “jellies,” as is the water. But for those who don’t want to play “Dodge the Jellyfish” in the water, there are great games of “Hit the Jellies with your Bodyboard” on the beach. And from what we saw, you score extra points of you splat the pitcher!SHARE
